WORK PLAN:

Science of the Sound is an educational program designed to serve all ages. The Discovery Room serves approximately 300 elementary students in Cordova who attend monthly hands-on science lessons that complement the school's science curriculum, while also helping to meet the Alaska state content standards for science. Outreach Discovery involves the transportation and implementation of these lessons in native villages of Tatitlek and Chenega Bay (approx. 40 students total). PWSSC educators have started partnering with the Cordova High School teachers, by leading field trips, giving presentations, and helping organize and coach student participation in science festivals. Science Center educators also present weekly community programs which usually include a presentation coupled with a field trip opportunity. From the Forest to the Sea Summer Environmental Science Camp rounds out the education programs with overnight and day camp activities offered to all age group participants during June and August.
